7/2/12 --Today Vallejo Fire Station 5 on Mini Drive was re-opened. A step in the right direction for Vallejo in addition to the eleven new firefighters recently hired with a SAFER grant.

Mayor Osby Davis, councilmembers Hannigan and Sampayan, City Manager Dan Keen and Congressman Mike Thompson were present along with a few (it was 10 AM)residents from the neighborhood and a small herd of media.

Yes you aint whistelen Dixie, Mousy our Fire department has become smarter and
more agile while relying on mutual aid often they manage their assaults on fires very well and are always in control, the videos Marc has shot will show it. if one
view's them they will see a cooperative effort by all of the FD a common goal to
be accomplished , a big and very professional orginiasion. they don't chit chat on the radio they are all buisness when assaulting a fire and kick
butt before they break down and return to station or the next call from dispatch . When on scene what is so incredible is
the total unison they show
every one working as one and all working as a unit while covering each other while executing the mission and ensuring they all go home to their family's at the end of their shift. It seems we have a Kick Ass FD these days .......

This makes me happy on several levels. It's taking help but we're coming back.
