10/7/12 - Angelo is a great lover of art, so he had to attend yesterday's first annual Vallejo Art Window extravaganza. With various local artists sprucing up windows in downtown Vallejo with their work it looks darn nice. Maybe even nicer than that picture of Dogs Playing Poker Angelo has over the dining room table at home!
YES! There will be a second showing of the lights. 19 merchants will open their doors with wine and hors d'oeuvres and good friendship on Saturday night from 5-8p.m. There will be music too. Georgia St., Marin St. and Virginia St. will all be a part of it!! Please go to Indian Alley Antiques to get tix. It is a bargain. $20. buys the party and everyone gets a free cookbook with recipes from the Downtown Merchants folks. Should be a good time.
Indian Ally Antiques is located in the 400 block of Georgia St. - 411 I think. Talk to Fred Menard --hope you all can make it!!!!

I'm in Vallejo 10 years. 10 years I see empty bldg in Downtown. Owners of this bldg of course have money to make some windows display but they don't cares about this. City Vallejo have no power to push them to do it. Artists make window displays and October 6 they did show their work and did put display on somebody private bldg.
I'm not supporting this event because I think we need help people who really need help: homeless, disable, sick, seniors, children but not owners of empty bldg. who gives money for somebody campaign just to have hand on the future. I think owners of windows display bldg. need to pay artists for their work and display staff.
On October 13 next Saturday we will have wine walk event. So pls come. Your donation of $20 will use to buy more lights for trees in Downtown Vallejo.

Available Light

...tells a much better story than flash; especially when one is interested in more than just a face.
I like available light photo.
Thanks for the excellent work.
Angelos pixel peeping confess
|October.08.2012
I wanted to give the pixel peepers some insights.
Paparazzi normally prefer the harsh look that a flash provides. For this shoot against my better judgement I decided to go with available light.
Starting with picture A11 my light source was either from the street lights or what was inside the store front. To get these shoots I was shooting most of the time at F2.8 ISO 2,500.
Shoots a40 thru a44 done in extremely dim conditions and forced me to use ISO 25,600. The results is noticeable grain and a softer image.
I promise my adoring public that my foray into more arty pictures will not occur again. Now where's that flash.
I am impressed!

Perhaps there could be a second showing of the windows???

Yes! May it go viral,up and down the streets and byways until the street gang mentality is boxed into the narrow focused alleys of their stunted tribal culture.

We have not so good elements of the town and we also have treasured people like all those involved.
