Mario Romero Funeral Marred by Threat of Gun Violence

By Marc Garman

10/21/12 -- Yesterday's funeral for Mario Romero, who was shot and killed by Vallejo Police September 2, saw the Emmanuel Temple on 900 6th Street in Vallejo filled to overflow capacity. An invitation was extended to both press and the general public as well. Friends and family of Romero filled the church with other attendees seated just outside and in an adjacent overflow room. Police were also called when chaos broke out in the church parking lot. A man waving a gun sent people running in panic and brought the police, who left when they ascertained that no shots were fired and the individual was no longer there.

Below are pictures from the funeral service and some rough (shaky) footage from seconds after the gun incident. Please be aware that the pictures of the funeral do contain images of the open casket.

Take your gun to a funeral. Right, that's an idea.

Wow, police called to scene because of gunmen at the funeral, but you are upset that they responded to the call, not that gangmembers with guns showed up at Romero's funeral? Strange concerns.....

re: The absolute Last thing that should have been at this young mans service was a police car.

If no one called the police due to the gun man, I don't think police car will be there.

@c.lewis
No comments about the gun man? But about the police car?

Very typical response from people blaming the police without looking at their own behavior.

Why would another gang show up with guns at a funeral of a man who had no affiliation with a gang? Shocking!!!

This is how we should be dealing with the rampant ghetto/ anti-police culture in our town. Instead of ignoring it and watching in disgust as they trash our city. As you will see at the end of the video, they always show themselves for the cowards they are.

Someone pulled a gun at the funeral?! Shocking. That's not possible, these are such wonderful young men. No gang members here. Such respectful language as well.

Was Osby there? He perhaps should have been.
Education is key to all people, but particularly within the Hispanics and African American communities. If they ever want to rise up out of their often compromising situations, they need to pull off becoming another Willy Brown. They need to understand that education is critical.
The Vallejo police, however, need education and training too. And I am not sure who is capable of doing that for them.
Sad day for Ms. Mitchell indeed. Thank you Marc Garman for all that you do for the city of Vallejo. I wish you Godspeed because you often place yourself
in compromising situations.

Failed culture, failed democrat policies, failed families. The time for making nice is over, time to get with it people or get out. Make sure your kids are in school, make sure they behave and get your attitude in check. If not then suffer the consequences.
Sad Situation   |October.21.2012
It's a sad situation all around. Peace be with everyone.
