Well, I'm going to be writing a column.

Not a regular thing as many would probably like but one that comes around now and then.

I have had some interesting suggestions on what to call it.

I kind of like, "Scuttlebutt" however, as it befits Navy talk in a former Navy town.  Yes, I know people think we ought to shed that Navy town past for the bright future of Vallejo.  But frankly, the past has and will continue to shape our future and we should be proud of it.

Let's see if it catches on.

In any event, this column will be about past history and how those things that came before us have something to do with things that are going on today.  Things like who our prior mayors were and how they play into today's local political games. For example:

 Remember Terry Curtola who was mayor before Gloria Exline?  (Gloria was mayor between Anthony Intintoli's first 8 year stint and his second. More on her later.)

Anyhow, Terry Curtola  has a long history of always assisting Kurt Henke, the President of Local 1186, International Association of Fire Fighters. This is important to know. In the next installment we will explore this connection and what it means to us today.
