Just When They Thought it was Safe

The King of Vague

 

Captain Dredge commands respect. This is because the Captain is a true leader.  When the Captain speaks, his booming voice will cut through the screech of a gale as it makes the rigging sing. His words are distinct, clear and each syllable is filled with the precise intent and knowledge that comes only from years of experience. Vague or indistinct words can mean death at sea.  The same is true when we consider the municipal ship of Vallejo...teetering so close to the financial abyss. 

Now then, there's Darrell Edwards-that man with a vision for Vallejo. It must be the same vision that led to his ouster as the Executive Director of the Historic Herbert House under the auspices of the Vallejo Chapter of the Native Sons and Daughters of the Golden West.

 

By the way, you need to look at his web site. It mentions that he worked for PG &E for 34 years and is a present or former member of all kinds of  local groups, but doesn't mention a thing about the Native Sons work. One wonders why!

 

Darrell, touting yourself  as a 34 year employee of PG&E is a good thing but it is useful only if it adds to your qualifications to handle a budget as big and complicated as Vallejo's. You were a meter reader. How does that qualify you?

 

Darrell has the following on his website about his plans for public safety:

 

    "Darrell Edwards will continue to defend and uphold "Law and Order" in the

    City of Vallejo. (This is good. We all support that) He will strongly promote 

    and support a city-wide "safe and sane" (sounds like fireworks to us)

    effort which includes participation by individuals, neighborhoods, and our

    public safety community. (The police department has had this going for

    years Mr. Edwards.)

 

    "Edwards will help insure that the tools are available to protect our citizens

    especially our seniors. He will promote needed services, technical support,

    and increased hours of operation for our public safety offices." (We think the 

    police and fire departments are already open 24/7)." He will continue to

    advocate for fire and police staffing."

 

So now we know you are in favor of motherhood and apple pie.

 

These all sound great but what about the details. These are rather vague concepts wouldn't you say? Sounds like you are trying to become the King of Vague along with a few other candidates we are going to be discussing in the future.
