BROWN WILL NOT RUN
6/28/13
The following statement has been issued by Vallejo Councilmember Marti Brown:
It is with a heavy heart and sadness that I announce I will not seek re-election to the Vallejo City Council in 2013.
After months of thoughtful consideration, I've realized that I cannot fully engage in the civic and political life of Vallejo while maintaining a full-time position in Sacramento as the Executive Director of the North Franklin District Business Association, a non-profit corporation.
I am unable to provide the intense focus, time and attention to the immediate needs of the citizens of Vallejo while also managing the competing demands and expectations of the 600 business owners and 150 plus property owners that I serve and represent 60 miles away. And I do not want to disappoint and sell short either community.
The City of Vallejo is at yet another crossroads--a bright and beautiful future filled with hope and possibility. And as it moves toward its next evolutionary phase, Vallejo needs elected leaders
who can dedicate the time and energy to ensure its successful renaissance, as well as do the necessary homework to make the right decisions and move the city forward.
And I cannot.
It has been a tremendous honor and privilege to serve you. And I will continue to serve our community in other capacities.
I look forward to our ongoing journey together to improve Vallejo as we create the city that we all want to call home--a safe and thriving community of pride and dignity.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and our community.
