9/8/13 -- Here is the footage of the 9/4 VCUSD school Board Meeting. Happily, the meetings are now being posted on the school district's website at: http://www.vallejo.k12.ca.us/

 

Due to the high level of public interest in the schools, VIB will continue to post meetings here to allow a place for online discussion.

Just imagine if actual classroom Teachers populated the School Board , they would probably whip the District into shape .

employees of a school district are barred from elected office... only in the district they are employed by.

I suspect that it is up to an individual autonomous board as to whether or not out of district individuals may run for office. It would not be in the interest of local residents for a number of reasons. Some boards have zones in which candidates from each zone run for office.
The rationale is that local values are best represented by those who live locally.

College boards are County wide, thus wider representation.

And, you must be an American citizen.

if you work in another district, say napa, i believe you can hold office in vallejo. a fairfield unified school district faculty member sits on the solano college governing board. that's what i base my opinion on.

School board elections question. Policy states that a VUSD employee cannot hold office at the same time as being employed. Would someone who is employed in another district be accepted? It's still is within the policy. How would someone gather support for that campaign?

Aye Salt A new era has , evolved , one of
illumination and , bright sunshine .. Sunshine is the best disinfectant , and should be spread District wide .. This will sterilize and heal the digressions of the past , or at least focus some "light" on the issues that have malingered for years ... The Local School District is the "MAIN" , and biggest Corporation , as well as the largest Employer in all of Vallejo ...
Considering the logistics and actual pay roll ... Ramona Bishop makes Osby look like a Pauper ... Yes Ramona wields much more power than Osby could ever conceive of ..
This un elected Political powerhouse controls the largest economy in all of Vallejo !!! second only to Kaiser healthcare .... So a shout out to
all running for Office know where the gold is buried , and who butters the Municipal bread ...

I second the inappropriate gum chewing modelling. Where IS your head, Ramona...er, I mean Dr Bishop.

And, since you are now all video stars, you must stop with all the acronyms or at least sound them out once. We need clarity along with "transparency".
