Edict from the Aging Disco Queen |
Tonight, July 11, in our very own Empress (she's royalty too!) Theatre, 30+ years after its premiere (which ADQ was at, in Boston :( not New York) the quintessential Disco Movie will air....Saturday Night Fever! AND...with disco dancing before the show!
This is your opportunity to see the lovely Empress Theatre, enjoy a classic 70s movie, and find out if ADQ is really merely ADB (aging disco bourgeoisie)!
Come one, come all !!!

Why not Vallejo?
By Marc Garman
July 10, 2008
The above advertisement appeared in the June edition of the Weekender magazine. I like how they are looking for people between the ages of 18 and 100. The ad did appear just above the "Senior Activities" category...maybe that wasn't a mistake.

Vallejo Music Theatre Needs YOU!!! |
Vallejo Music Theatre needs three volunteers to handle a tall puppet for the Fourth of July Parade.
We have two puppets, General Vallejo and Dona. They were made by a local couple who have a puppet theatre
that has received some acclaim.
So this is a "shout out" to peeps on VIB.
Volunteers would have to show up at 9 am on the Fourth. But they
should sign up with Don Kelly at VMT by calling 707-649-2787.
It's a last minute plea!!!

Last Lunch Served in North Vallejo ?
Seniors vow to reinstate program
July 1, 2008
By Marc Garman
Yesterday marked the last day of the senior lunch program at North Vallejo Senior Center. For the past 12 years, this small senior center, located in a storefront in the Fairgrounds Plaza (in Vallejo's Country Club Crest neighborhood) has provided lunch to seniors.
Due to budget cuts, Meals on Wheels, the organization that has provided food for the seniors, and funding for the space, can no longer do so. In addition to providing lunch, this has been a place for seniors to go to socialize and meet with their peers.
"We were one of the first (senior lunchrooms) and now that things are bad, we are the first to close." said Betty Frank, the center's "site host" or manager. "Just the idea of not being able to gather anymore..." she trailed off unable to continue.
