I see in the Morning Opinion page of the Times-Herald this morning that ValPAC's endorsements are very confusing. ValPAC is not supporting Measure B on the November ballot but they have endorsed Erin Hannigan, Jess Malgapo and Johnathan Logan for City Council and Osby Davis for Mayor. That is very interesting as all of these Candidates are supporting Measure "B" in the upcoming Election in November. The only thing I have heard them say is " Vallejo needs jobs". They have not offered any solutions to how to get jobs in Vallejo.

Also I must say I do not understand Labor
Council's endorsements either. They have endorsed Osby Davis for Mayor, Erin Hannigan, Jess Malgapo and Johnathan Logan for City Council. These three Candidates have stated at the forums that have held for the past Month We should shop Vallejo. Just look at the flyers that they send out in the mail. They are not from a Union Printer and are not even from a Printer in Vallejo. I am really at odds at how these groups decide how to endorse.
Just Vote No on Measure B and support Schivley for Mayor and Bob Sampayan and Robert McConnell for City Council. We need them now more than ever.

@know vallejo this is just another one of the many lies that Davis tells his audiences. He denies any knowledge of the Dominionists he invited to town when his name and quotes are in printed materials (he also reiterates the quotes again live on city hall steps at the event. It's clear the quotes were given to the event organizers ahead of time.) He denies knowing that the police raises would cause a deficit when the city finance manager presented that to the City Council ahead of time. (He says he must have been asleep!). Osby Davis lies pathologically to get out of taking responsibility
for his errors. As my grandmother used to say "He'll tell a lie when the truth would serve him just as well". I'll say it again, Vallejo has to get rid of him before he does further damage to this town. When are people going to get riled up enough to do something? I hope it's in this election.

BERKELEY CIVIC GROUP IDENTIFIES UP TO $100 MILLION ANNUAL SAVINGS IN EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION COST. PROPOSES 10 POINT ACTION PLAN WITH FOCUS ON USING SAVINGS TO PAY DOWN UNFUNDED LIABILITY FOR PENSIONS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

A comparative analysis of employee compensation in twelve regional municipalities by the civic group Berkeley Budget SOS reveals that the City of Berkeley spends up to $100M annually above the regional average, as adjusted for population size.

The analysis uses a combination of data from the Public Employees Salaries Database and updated employee costs provided to SOS by City management staff.

Employee compensation consists of gross salary (base salary plus overtime and other cash payments) and benefit costs. For gross salary, SOS examined the four major categories of employees

If true, that is too bad, Know Valejo...an interagency group with a specific task of seeking shared cost savings is very appropriate, given current circumstances.

on the subject of the interagency committee... davis is alleging that he is responsible for reactivating the committee, not true. he is responsible for deactivating the committee. shane macafee (gvrd general manager) gets credit for starting the meetings again. davis had nothing to do with it.

At one point, when I was a school board Chairman, our District was hit with severe funding shortages(isn't that always the case in education) and we sought ways to reduce our maintenance costs. Recognizing duplication and efficiencies of scale, we entered into an agreement with the Municipality to share activities and seek ways to mutually reduce costs....from paper usage, to equipment and various expertise that could be utilized by both organizations. Significant costs were realized from a reduction of overlapping activities.

Joanne rightly makes that observation and talks of an inter
agency committee. She also, rightly observes the importance of not usurping the jurisdiction of the SB....different stokes(agendas) for different folks.

A symbiotic relationship cultivated through Council and an active inter agency could be an effective way of reducing costs and bring the organizations closer with mutual benefits.

I thought Joanne came off better....more natural, more eye contact, although both were reading extensively from notes. Surely after so much time in public office, both could come across more natural....even though, granted, under pressure.

While complenting the community, a bit of a cop out on the ole community watch thing. Yes they are effective partly because the city has proven ineffective....ie ordinance enforcement which I don't believe was touched on.

One of the things that the city could do immediately is start enforcing ordinances. Why is that such a difficult concept to grasp?
