The Word on the Lake Property
1/26/09 By Marc Garman
In a recent correspondence, City Manager Joe Tanner has indicated that the Lake Curry property has been in the group of surplus properties the city is authorized to sell for some time. "We have been trying to sell the property for over a year." Tanner also indicated that the property is " nearly worthless for any type of real development as it is way too environmentally sensitive." There have not been any offers on the property to date.
In a separate conversation, concilmember Stephanie Gomes indicated that she intends to agendize the issue of the Curry Lake property for a future council meeting.
In a city that has a track record of making shortsighted decisions that come back to haunt us later, we must continue to be vigilant.
