Anonymous   |May.06.2010 ANON, get your facts straight. The Chamber's Curtola is former Mayor Curtola's brother. Not a cousin. And Pearsall's sister's husband's family is related to the Curtolas somehow. Wow, what a link.

The Chamber Curtola is also a relative of former Councilman Pearsall who is marrying Councilwoman Gomes, so ???? you getting the picture?????? Now you can call yourself informed....

Kinda parallels the accusations leveled at the PS ....... looking out for the wallet. A confrontation with Verna would be a mistake. Verna is too professional (and certainly not as petty as VI to punish a hard working employee for their personal politics. Too bad VIB cannot follow that example.

For whatever reason she is supporting No on Measure A (and I believe she is wrong), she is never 'irate' and does not walk lock-step with the Chamber. That being said, I see some very positive changes in the Chamber lately with them chosing Anita Hawkes as ED and Rich Curtola (the better, smarter and more community-minded Curtola brother). I might even join...well, maybe not.

How can Napa Co. be allowed to use Lake Barryessa as a resort for boats if Vallejo and other cities use the water for drinking water? Do our local politicans know this? What type of chemicals are being used on the moths that are attacking the vineyards? Are they using organic means of removing the moths or are they using chemicals that will end up in the silt that runs into the Bay? How can we find out more?

The state doesn't use binding arbitration. Ask Noreen if, as our rep, she thinks she's competent to manage our state taxes (she's say yes) Then ask her why she is dissing our local reps, if she supports no on A, she thinks our council is not competent to manage our budget. And does she support the insults the no people have on their new flyer? Or the other two? John K   |May.05.2010 Holy smoke, Firebug. Oakland seems to be in deep soup, and like Vallejo, only one or two elected officials seem to care enough to sound the alarm. The majority will attempt to swindle the citizens with higher taxes for unsustainable promises. This is part of the burden of the public safety early retirement at 50 with 90% and full medical for many years till Medicare kicks in. Its not enough to be fighting every day in your own backyard, but remember what they said "ca-ca runs downstream." Pay attention, read the papers find out who has "lobbied who" in adjacent counties.

Pay attention to upvalley shan   |May.05.2010 Napa Co. has given a contract to developers to re-develop the Lake Barryessa area for lots of recreation. Lots of jet skis, motor boats, pleasure crafts and the like. Lake Barryessa is one of the main drinking water supplies for Vallejo, in fact Vallejo gave quite a lot of money in 1957 to support the Monticello Dam which helped form the resevoir that supplies our drinking water. Gasoline and oil leaking from motorized crafts will increase if the new developers increase the visiting population. Do we need chemicals in our water? Napa Co does not get to use Barryessa for drinking water as they opted out of financial backing in the 1950's of the Monticello Dam. Napa Co and cites are hurting for drinking water, they dont car about poluting Lake Barryessa since they dont use it for thier own drinking water. Also be aware of what is going on to distroy the "moth" that is attacking the vines in vineyards. Napa and Sonoma Co's are getting ready to fight the "brown moth." How are they going to fight it? Chemicals? Chemicals they use during the growing seasons of vines have already penetrated the silt which eventually flows downstream into the Carquinez Straits into the Bay. Shhh dont tell the folks down river, they are busy with bankruptcy and fighting for their lives trying to keep themselves alive. So what if we polute thier drinking water and our vineyards run off silt into their Bay, Shhh dont tell... Hey pass the vino!

ANON 2   |May.04.2010 ANONYMOUS: why give the OZ credit for supporting Measure A ? He is the one that gave them all of the money to start with amd then blames it on BA. Hell he gave them the money without even forcing them to go to BA. If I had my way, I would keep BA and change the Charter to get rid of elected officials. They are the ones that bankrupted the City....Next the OZ will put on the ballot in November to change the Charter for a strong Mayor form of government, which will give him veto power. He is only supporting getting rid of BA, so he can use the same machine to change our government..Don't be duped by this smart attorney.....

According to its website, hmartinfoundation.org , they have employment opportunities in the fields of education, health programs, ecology and environment, research programs, etc. We sure need those jobs here. ANON 2   |May.01.2010 MARC: I think it is time that the IBVALLEJO crew (Katy, Mr. Schussel, you and whomever) organize a town meeting, so we all can meet and discuss the merits of Measure A. With the money the PSU'ers are spending from their fat paychecks, we are doomed. Maybe with your influence you could set up something, where the unfunded and concerned citizens can get together and really discuss the issue. Have people like Mr. McConnell and JD Miller there to answer the questions that concern most of us, give a little history of how we got in this trouble. Maybe Councilmembers Gomes and Schively can also share their experience. We need to do something fast and you are the key...Thanks
