We are writing to ask for your support and to let you know that we are close to our goal of covering 100% of the costs needed to show MILK at the Empress Theater on Friday, May 21st, as a local 'kick off' event for the first Harvey Milk Day to be celebrated in California. And get this - through the support of each and every one of you, this movie event will be offered FREE to all Vallejoans.
Watch this clip and get RE-inspired ... even if you've seen the movie once, plan on seeing it again - enjoying a movie with a full house of "equality minded" community members would be a fitting tribute to this great man . We first saw this movie at the Castro Theater and it was electrifying to be in the audience - lets create that same electricity here in Vallejo!

We are still working on some last minute surprises and we are finalizing our contract with the Empress. It is shaping up to be a memorable evening for all and one that will educate, inspire, and serve to change hearts and minds. WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP THOUGH!
While we are almost there, we need your help to push us over the top - because, I know we can make it together. Now is the time to open your hearts and your wallets to help - then help even more by forwarding on this e-mail to everyone in your contacts list, especially those who live here or those considering a move to our great City. Ask them to join with you and help. With your support of $100, $50, or $25, we can all make this happen - please dig deep and give what you can in these difficult times, all donors will receive movie tickets to join us on Friday the 21st.
While I 'm sorry to report that we did not have enough time to secure a 501c3 co-sponsor for the evening event and we will not be able to provide receipts for tax purposes. But, hopefully, that should not stop you or your friends from wanting to help us effect positive change right here in Vallejo.
Please send an e-mail to Fred at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to let him know that you are interested in supporting the MILK - Empress Theater event - he will contact you with additional information on how and where to send your donations. If you can help in other ways - through wine or food donations, access to services such as printing, web design, or t-shirt production, lets talk! We want to include everyone we can who wants to participate in a meaningful way.
In closing, time is so important here - please do NOT delay in making your donation today and then take the next step to pass this e-mail along to your friends, neighbors, and family members. We have found that a very large majority of people we asked were more than happy to give and many thought this idea was truly inspired - together, with support from you and your e-mail address contacts, we can cover 100% of the costs and make this a free event for all Vallejo to enjoy. Remember, giving is personal and people like to give to help people. And when you are helping someone you know - it just feels good. So, please do it today! So, if you can help out, please send an e-mail to Fred at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and he will get back to you.
Thanks to each and every one of you - please join with James and myself, lets all commit to a BETTER Vallejo for all! In equality and friendship, Fred |
